Elena Georgiou

Cllr Elena Georgiou joins the Conservative Group at Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Cllr Elena Georgiou, formerly of the Bingham Independent Group, has joined the ruling Conservative Group at Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Cllr Georgiou has represented the Bingham South Ward on Rushcliffe Borough Council since 2023 and sets out why she feels now is the time to join the Conservative Group.

“Since my election I have worked day in and day out to support my residents, and I believe I am best placed to do that alongside my colleagues in the Conservative Group. The Conservative Group has delivered the fantastic Bingham Arena, campaigned against Bingham and other areas of Rushcliffe joining a new Nottingham City Council, has worked on solving the car parking issues in Bingham and is lobbying Network Rail and the East Midlands Mayor for a new railway bridge for Bingham Station. I have supported all these efforts, and it is clear to me only the Conservatives can deliver for Bingham and Rushcliffe residents. other groups are focused on political point scoring while the Conservatives put residents first.”

Cllr Neil Clarke MBE, Leader of the Conservative Group and Rushcliffe Borough Council has welcomed Cllr Georgiou to his group: “Elena is a fantastic local Councillor who is well respected in her community, and we are delighted to have her join the Conservative Group. As a Group we lead a Council with the lowest Council Tax in Nottinghamshire, while investing millions of pounds into local services and remaining debt free. As a Council we will continue to lead the campaign against Rushcliffe joining a new Nottingham City Council, continue to campaign against more houses being forced upon us and our funding being cut by central government.”

“The Message I give to all our residents is that your Conservative Administration at Rushcliffe Borough Council will continue to deliver high quality services, keeping your tax as low as we can and pushing back against the cuts from central government.”
